New Head Coaches Appointed for Ukraine's Youth National Teams
The Ukrainian Basketball Federation has finalized the head coaches for its youth national teams set to compete in the Division B European Championships during the summer of 2026. These appointments cover various age groups and genders, with specific tournament locations also confirmed for several of the squads.
In a strategic move, the Federation's Executive Committee approved a refresh of the coaching leadership. Dmytro Zabirchenko, who previously guided Ukraine's youth team to Division B bronze in 2023, has been named head coach of the men's U-20 team. Yevhen Murzin will lead the women's U-20 team. Oleg Shevchenko was selected to coach the men's U-18 team, while Volodymyr Reshetnyk will take charge of the men's U-16 team. The women's U-18 team will be headed by Hanna Shlykova, and the women's U-16 team by Larysa Yeshchenko.
International Tournament Participation
Additionally, Oleksandr Sabutskyi has been appointed acting head coach of the men's U-15 team (born 2011), and Oksana Kirsanova-Staron will serve as acting head coach of the women's U-15 team. The men's U-20 team will compete in a tournament hosted by Bratislava, while the men's U-18 team will play in Croatia. The women's teams will participate in tournaments held in Bulgaria and Romania.
These appointments represent a crucial step in preparing Ukraine's youth teams for upcoming international competitions, aiming to sustain the development of basketball at the grassroots level.
