The Biathlon Federation of Ukraine made a mistake on its social media pages by publishing the results of the race at the World Cup stage, where Crimea was absent from the map of Europe. The president of the FBU, Ivan Krulko, explained that this happened due to a technical error with the 'Canva' editor, not due to a political stance. The federation does not plan to delete the post but will only add an apology and acknowledgment of the mistake to the fans.
However, later the FBU still removed the post with the mistake and reached out to the 'Canva' service with a corresponding request. In its message, the Biathlon Federation of Ukraine emphasized that this mistake was theirs, and they are committed to being more careful with graphic elements, acknowledging that Crimea is part of Ukraine.
The participation of Russian athletes in propaganda events, including figure skater Aleksandra Saitina, who was recognized as a neutral athlete, sparked outrage due to her participation in an event with President Putin. This violated the recommendations of the International Olympic Committee regarding neutral athletes and drew criticism from the sports community.
