Ukrainian Defense Minister’s Report Highlights Strategic Shift
In a recent briefing on drone procurement, Ukrainian Defense Minister Mykhailo Fedorov outlined a key priority for the Armed Forces: conducting strikes at depths of 120–150 kilometers, classified as "middle strikes." These operations aim to degrade Russia’s military capabilities by targeting critical infrastructure. Key objectives include:
- enemy logistics networks,
- ammunition depots,
- command centers,
- air defense systems.
Fedorov revealed that contracts for middle strike systems this year have increased fivefold compared to last year, with plans to further scale up production and procurement.
“One of our priorities for the coming months is middle strikes—delivering damage to the occupier at depths of up to 120–150 kilometers,” the minister stated. This strategy reflects Ukraine’s focus on disrupting Russian supply lines and command structures far behind the front lines.
Casualty Estimates and Arms Export Discussions
The report also covered preliminary data on Russian battlefield losses in April. Fedorov noted that verified final figures will be released in early May.
“Our goal is to ensure that the rate of personnel losses among the occupiers outpaces their mobilization efforts,” he added.
Additionally, the minister addressed plans to open arms exports and the necessary regulatory steps to facilitate this. This move is seen as crucial for bolstering Ukraine’s defense industry and international partnerships amid the ongoing war.
The emphasis on middle strikes underscores Ukraine’s strategic approach to modern warfare, prioritizing efficiency and significant impact at range. The surge in drone contracting highlights the military’s growing reliance on advanced technology. Meanwhile, opening arms exports could strengthen global support and enhance Ukraine’s long-term defense capabilities.
As Ukraine intensifies its military strategy with a focus on middle strikes, the implications for its drone warfare capabilities are becoming increasingly significant. In a related development, Ukraine's unmanned forces are reportedly targeting locations deep within Russian territory, reaching up to 2,000 kilometers. This strategic expansion of operational range highlights the evolving nature of Ukraine's defense tactics.
