The Story of Nikita Budko
Known by his call sign 'Chlor', 27-year-old Nikita Budko is a combat medic with the Azov Brigade. Before the war, the Kharkiv native worked as a graphic designer. He now serves on some of the most intense frontlines, including the Kupiansk and Toretsk sectors, as well as the Dobropillia and Shcherbynivka areas. His duties involve conducting medical evacuations and operating at field stabilization points to save lives under fire.
Challenges on the Front Line
Budko describes the immense physical strain of 20-kilometer treks, where he is solely responsible for logistics, and the arduous task of evacuating wounded soldiers on foot. The emotional toll is heaviest when those close to him are injured. His story was featured in an episode of the 'Heroes' project by the Ministry of Internal Affairs on YouTube, highlighting the critical risks and sacrifices made by Ukrainian service members. The ongoing war in Ukraine has seen many civilians, like Budko, transition from ordinary professions to vital military roles.
