In the latest update to its global standings for national basketball teams, FIBA has moved Ukraine's men's team up one spot, from 40th to 39th in the world. With a total of 348.2 points, Ukraine now sits ahead of Jordan. Within Europe, the team holds the 21st position, indicating steady progress on the international stage. The FIBA rankings are a key measure of a national team's performance over recent years.

2027 World Cup Qualifying Campaign

During the 2027 FIBA World Cup qualifiers, Ukraine suffered a 78:64 loss to Spain in the fourth round. This followed a previous 66:86 defeat to the same opponent in the third round. However, the team's earlier qualifying matches showed promise:

  • In the second round, they secured an 88:71 victory over Denmark.
  • Their first match resulted in a 92:79 win against Georgia.

In the game against Spain, key Ukrainian performances included: Lukashov with 6 points, Kovliar with 11, Voinakhovych with 12, and Bobrov contributing 7 points and 4 rebounds. In the victory over Georgia, Kovliar was a standout, scoring 31 points along with 6 rebounds and 6 assists. Bobrov also had a strong game, posting 11 points and 15 rebounds.
