The International Fencing Federation (FIE) has published updated lists of participants for the first stage of the Sabre World Cup, which will take place in Algeria. According to Hlavkom, among the fencers who will participate in the competition is the name of Sofia Pozdnyakova. This athlete was previously excluded for violating neutrality, but she has now been given the opportunity to compete under a neutral flag.
As a result of the lifting of restrictions, Russian and Belarusian teams are allowed to participate in competitions under a neutral flag. Moreover, four Olympic champions, including Pozdnyakova, have also been given the chance to take part in these competitions.
Applications from Yana Egoryan and Velika are currently absent, but this does not mean that they will not appear at the tournament. It is also known that Pozdnyakova plans to revive her sports career and fight for participation in the 2028 Olympic Games.
Participants of the first stage of the Sabre World Cup have the opportunity to compete under a neutral flag, which has expanded the number of participants and added tension before the competitions. It will be interesting to see how the tournament unfolds and what results athletes from all over the world will show.
