The investigation by the Territorial Department of the Bureau of Economic Security in the Kyiv region and the Security Service of Ukraine uncovered a scheme for embezzling funds during the procurement of drones for the Armed Forces of Ukraine. The suspects are an official of the military unit and his accomplice, who have already been charged. Research findings have established that the cost of the equipment was inflated by almost 2 million hryvnias.
'To implement the criminal scheme, he involved a friend who is a private entrepreneur. The latter was supposed to ensure the participation of controlled business entities in public procurement to create the appearance of competition. While the tender winner was determined in advance. This scheme allowed for the procurement of drones and their components at inflated prices.'
The organizer of the scheme and the executor have been charged with embezzling budget funds through the abuse of office. The question of applying preventive measures to them is currently under consideration.
