After the end of the war, a strong army will remain a key guarantee of security for Ukraine, with funding provided jointly with partner countries. This was stated by President Volodymyr Zelensky during a joint press conference with Dutch Prime Minister Dick Schoof. This is reported by Suspilne.
The head of state emphasized that for soldiers who wish to remain in the army, new contracts with proper funding will be available. According to him, the Armed Forces of Ukraine have already proven their efficiency in countering Russian aggression, and society has demonstrated its ability to mobilize quickly in critical moments.
Contracts for the military after the war: what the new service model entails
The president stressed that after the war, the state will not be able to operate under conditions of constant emergency. Many Ukrainians who came to the army from civilian professions and gained combat experience will have the right to return to peaceful life.
At the same time, for those who wish to continue their service, the following will be provided:
additional international funding
new contracts with clear terms
preservation of unique combat and technological experience.

Zelensky noted that international partners can help Ukraine preserve the personnel potential of the army, including the experience gained in modern technological warfare. A financially supported Ukrainian army, he said, will become the foundation of the security system in the post-war period.
Let us remind you, the Verkhovna Rada adopted the state budget for 2026. The document provides for revenues of UAH 2.918 trillion and expenditures of UAH 4.781 trillion. The budget deficit is almost UAH 1.9 trillion, or 18.5% of GDP.
