Фінляндія стане частиною коаліції дронів для підтримки України після двох років оцінки.

Finland to Join Drone Coalition for Ukraine

Finland will become part of the international drone coalition supporting Ukraine by the end of spring. The coalition is led by Latvia and the United Kingdom. Finnish Defense Minister Antti Häkkänen announced the decision, noting that it had been under consideration for two years. He stated:

'This matter was discussed last year and this year. Now I can announce that Finland will join the drone coalition this spring.'

About the Drone Coalition

The drone coalition brings together more than 20 partner countries and was launched in February during a meeting of the Ukraine Defense Contact Group in the Ramstein format. Member countries include:

  • Latvia
  • United Kingdom
  • Lithuania
  • Estonia
  • Poland
  • Czech Republic
  • Denmark
  • Norway
  • Sweden
  • France
  • Germany
  • Italy
  • Luxembourg
  • Netherlands
  • Canada
  • Australia
  • New Zealand
  • Ukraine

The United Kingdom and Latvia coordinate the coalition's efforts. Under this initiative, partner nations have pledged to supply Ukraine's defense forces with tens of thousands of drones of various types. In April, the drone coalition raised nearly €500 million to purchase unmanned aerial vehicles for Ukraine. Additionally, the Finnish government is considering allocating further resources to support Ukraine in the field of unmanned systems. Antti Häkkänen noted:

'Through this, we will be able to significantly expand EU support for Ukraine and this operational activity.'

Finland’s entry into the drone coalition underscores the growing international backing for Ukraine’s defense needs. This move highlights the intensifying efforts among allies to equip Ukraine with cutting-edge technology amid the ongoing conflict, as well as the importance of collective security in Europe. The inclusion of new members in the coalition could enhance the operational capabilities of Ukrainian forces in countering aggression.

Finland's commitment to join the drone coalition is part of a broader strategy to enhance its defense capabilities amid rising threats. In light of the ongoing conflict, the nation has also intensified its airspace monitoring efforts, addressing the risks associated with unauthorized drone activity.
