The Ukrainian company Fire Point has presented the cruise missile 'Flamingo FP-5', which is capable of delivering a 1150-kilogram warhead at a distance of up to 3000 kilometers. This development took less than nine months from idea to field tests, said the company's CEO Iryna Terekh.

'We did not want to disclose this development, but it seems that the right time has come',
- said Terekh in an interview with Politico. The missile, which is completely Ukrainian-made, is faster than all other Ukrainian missiles. The first prototypes had a pink tip, which was an internal joke of the company about the role of women in the military industry.

Reaction of Russia to the new threat

The Russian news agency TASS tried to downplay Ukrainian achievements and attribute the development to British partners after the presentation of the 'Flamingo' missile. Terekh noted that the more successful the mission was, the more the Russians tried to hide the publicity about it.

Fire Point plans to produce 200 missiles per month, and Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky announced plans to increase production by December. However, he refrained from naming exact figures until reaching 'hundreds of units'.

Significance of the 'Flamingo' missile for Ukraine

The 'Flamingo' missile differs from drones with small warheads and is one of the strongest guarantees of security for Ukraine, according to Norwegian expert Fabian Hofmann. He predicts that 3-5 thousand such missiles will complicate further Russian aggression and make it economically impossible.

In Ukrainian society, there is a growing demand for the authorities to respond to daily shelling. Iryna Terekh emphasized that while communities want to see a burning Red Square, Ukrainians are not terrorists.

The success of 'Flamingo' as a symbol of the evolution of the Ukrainian defense industrial complex

The creation of the 'Flamingo' missile in just a few months inspirationally shows how war transforms into a competition of industries. Earlier, the Ministry of Defense assessed the pace of implementing state contracts, indicating positive trends in the development of the defense sector in Ukraine.
