French prosecutor denies shooting at drones over nuclear submarine base

Французький прокурор спростував інформацію про обстріл дронів над базою ядерних підводних човнів.

Prosecutor Jean-Marie Blin, responsible for military affairs in the city of Rennes, stated that French media inaccurately reported the opening of fire on unidentified drones over the nuclear submarine base Ile-Long.

The investigation being conducted by French prosecutors concerns drone flights over the military base on the Atlantic coast during the evening of December 4th.

Prosecutor's reaction to the identified flying objects

Prosecutor Jean-Marie Blin confirmed the presence of unidentified flying objects but dismisses the information regarding firing at them. He noted that law enforcement took 'preventive measures' in response to this situation.

According to the prosecutor, the observation of flying apparatuses was conducted from 6 PM to 1 AM, with most cases occurring in the first two hours.

Some reports may be entirely fabricated, while others are much more serious, emphasized Blin.

Additional information about the incident

The observations of unidentified flying objects over the base were made by gendarmes and military officers.

The Ile-Long base in Brittany is a key site where France's nuclear missile submarines are stationed, which have a nuclear arsenal.

Although drone flights in this area are not a new phenomenon, observations over such an object always create heightened concern.

In the investigation regarding drone flights over the Ile-Long base, it was found that the French military did not open fire on these flying apparatuses, as previously reported. Law enforcement confirmed monitoring of drones but only took preventive measures.
