Halina Yablonska: Life and Career

Halina Yablonska, a Ukrainian actress, screenwriter, and director, celebrates her 98th birthday on January 2, 2026. She dedicated 88 years of her life to theater, of which she worked for 72 years at the Ivan Franko National Academic Drama Theater. Her career began at the age of six when she first appeared on the stage of the Vinnitsa Theater. By the age of eight, Halina played the lead role in the play 'Uncle Tom's Cabin'.

Yablonska received her acting education at the Dnipro Theater College and performed in theaters in Pyskorov, Kamianets-Podilskyi, Mohyliv-Podilskyi, Vinnitsa, and Dnipro. Her talent was repeatedly recognized: she became a laureate of the Kyiv Artistic Award for her role in the play 'Lonely Lady'. In 2016, Halina entered the 'National Register of Records of Ukraine' for 'The Longest Period of Performance on the Theater Stage – 83 years', highlighting her significant contribution to the development of theatrical arts.

Public Activity and Contribution to Culture

In May 2021, she received a personal award on the Walk of Stars in Kyiv, and in 2020, the hundredth showing of the play 'Lonely Lady' took place. Halina Yablonska is also active in public activities: she founded the International League 'Mothers and Sisters – Youth of Ukraine' and created the heroic theater 'Memory' in 2007. In 2016, she initiated the International competition project 'Taras Shevchenko Unites Peoples'.
