FPV drones on optical fibers, which the Russians used on a large scale, disrupted the logistics of the Defense Forces and became one of the key reasons why the Armed Forces of Ukraine had to leave the Kursk salient. This was stated by the Deputy Chief of the General Staff, Commander of the Assault Forces General Oleg Apostol in an interview with 'Glavkom'.
However, he emphasized that the main goal of the operation, which was to move hostilities to Russian territory, was achieved.
Latest data on the operation in the Kursk salient
According to Oleg Apostol, the enemy still retains elite 83rd, 11th, 76th airborne brigades, the 106th airborne division, and a marine corps group in this direction. Infantry units from the DPR are also present here, some of them are already in captivity.
«Otherwise, these forces could have moved to other directions», – the military reported.
FPV drones on optical fibers played an important role in strengthening the operation, disrupting the communication of the Armed Forces of Ukraine. This allowed the enemy to carry out a successful defense and prevented the Ukrainian troops from leaving the salient. Despite this, the operation is still ongoing, and efforts are aimed at moving hostilities to Russian territory.
