The first deputy head of the State Duma Committee on Physical Culture and Sports Dmitry Svishchev spoke about the verification of the statements of former Zenit footballer Claudinho. The Brazilian, who has Russian citizenship, stated that he wanted to leave the club after the start of the RF invasion of Ukraine, but then in an interview stated that he deeply respects and loves Russia and did not want to leave Zenit due to 'political problems.'

I literally received a response from the Prosecutor General's Office yesterday that Claudinho's case is being processed. They said to wait for an answer and a decision.

Svishchev noted that the case regarding Claudinho's statements has received wide attention. While investigative actions are ongoing, it will be decided whether a criminal or administrative case has been initiated.
