NATO Secretary General Mark Rutte expressed support for U.S. President Donald Trump's statements regarding the need to shoot down Russian drones and aircraft if they violate the airspace of Alliance countries.
Rutte noted that NATO forces are prepared to assess such threats, identify potentially dangerous situations, and take appropriate actions.
'If it is necessary. So I fully agree here with President Trump: if it is necessary,' Rutte supported him in an interview with Fox News.
The NATO chief's response was a reply to earlier comments by Trump, where he called on member countries of the Alliance to shoot down Russian aircraft in case of an invasion of their airspace.
This position of the NATO Secretary General confirms the alliance's support in maintaining its air borders and readiness to take appropriate measures in case of violations of these borders.
