Frontline Situation for February 9
On February 9, the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine reported intense combat activity across the front. A total of 159 military engagements were recorded for the day. Russian forces conducted numerous artillery strikes, launched one missile attack using two missiles, carried out 43 airstrikes involving 113 guided aerial bombs, and deployed 4,034 kamikaze drones. They also shelled Ukrainian military positions and settlements 2,089 times. This day marked the 1,447th day of Russia's full-scale invasion of Ukraine, a conflict that continues to reshape European security.
The most intense fighting occurred on the Pokrovsk axis, where 36 separate attacks were documented.
Combat Activity Across Frontline Sectors
Military activity varied significantly across different sectors of the front:
- Pivdenno-Slobozhanskyi axis: 1 engagement and 54 shelling incidents.
- Kupiansk axis: 3 attacks near Pishchane and Dovhenke.
- Lyman axis: 5 assaults repelled near Stavky, Drobysheve, and Novoselivka.
- Sloviansk axis: 12 enemy attempts to advance were halted.
- Kramatorsk axis: An attempted enemy advance towards Stupochok was recorded.
- Kostiantynivka axis: 12 enemy assaults occurred near Kostiantynivka and Kleban-Byk, with 1 attack still ongoing.
- Oleksandrivka axis: 2 attacks were stopped near Ivanivka.
- Huliaipole axis: 17 attacks took place in the vicinity of Huliaipole and towards neighboring settlements.
- Orikhiv axis: 2 attacks were recorded near Stepnohirsk and Mali Shcherbaky.
- Prydniprovskyi axis: No offensive actions occurred.
The frontline situation remains highly tense, with Ukrainian forces continuing defensive operations in response to Russian aggression. The scale of drone and artillery use highlights the attritional nature of the current fighting. The events of February 9 underscore the persistent pressure on Ukrainian defenders and the critical need for sustained international support to help Ukraine maintain its defensive lines.
