On May 23, 2026, the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine released the latest data on Russian troop losses, marking the 1,550th day of the conflict. The morning report highlights substantial casualties among personnel and military equipment, underscoring the prolonged nature of the war that began in February 2022.

Personnel and Equipment Losses

According to the report, Russian military personnel losses have reached 1,354,810, with an additional 950 casualties recorded in the past day alone. Equipment losses include:

  • Tanks – 11,949 units (+5)
  • Armored combat vehicles – 24,599 units (+5)
  • Artillery systems – 42,579 units (+68)
  • Multiple launch rocket systems (MLRS) – 1,799 units (+1)

Additionally, air defense systems have suffered 1,394 losses (+4), while aircraft losses stand at 436 and helicopters at 353. Ground robotic complexes have seen 1,444 units destroyed (+4), and operational-tactical unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs) total 306,478 (+1,819). These figures reflect the ongoing intensity of hostilities, with no signs of de-escalation.

This data underscores the duration and ferocity of a conflict that has now stretched beyond four years.

The heavy toll on both personnel and hardware indicates sustained combat operations and a persistently volatile situation. Analyzing such reports is crucial for understanding strategic developments and potential shifts in the military plans of both warring parties.
