Updated Russian Military Casualty Figures Released
As the full-scale war in Ukraine reaches its 1,596th day, the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine has released new data on Russian military losses as of July 8, 2026. These figures highlight significant attrition in both personnel and equipment amid ongoing hostilities.
According to the report, total Russian personnel losses have reached approximately 1,413,510, with 1,260 of those occurring in the past 24 hours. In terms of hardware, Russian forces have suffered the following losses:
- 12,100 tanks (+3)
- 24,903 armored fighting vehicles (+4)
- 45,569 artillery systems (+61)
- 1,918 multiple launch rocket systems (MLRS) (+1)
- 1,478 air defense systems (no change)
Additional losses in aviation include:
- 436 aircraft (no change)
- 353 helicopters (no change)
Russian forces have also seen losses in robotics, with 1,853 ground-based robotic complexes destroyed (+5). A substantial number of operational-tactical unmanned aerial vehicles—396,920 units—have been taken out, including 2,074 in the latest reporting period. The tally of destroyed cruise missiles stands at 4,887, while naval losses include 33 ships and boats, as well as 2 submarines.
Russian vehicle losses encompass 117,547 trucks and fuel tankers (+462) and 4,398 units of specialized equipment (+4). Estimated financial costs for these losses include:
- Cruise missiles — approximately $14.66 billion
- Drones — approximately $11.91 billion
- Aircraft — approximately $13.08 billion
- Helicopters — approximately $5.29 billion
- Tanks — approximately $30.25 billion
- Artillery systems — approximately $68.35 billion
- Armored fighting vehicles — approximately $14.94 billion
- Air defense systems — approximately $22.17 billion
- Ships and boats — approximately $1.98 billion
- Submarines — $600 million
