On May 17, 2023, the front line saw 195 combat engagements. The enemy carried out 76 airstrikes, dropped 201 guided bombs, and deployed 4,851 kamikaze drones. Additionally, 1,994 shelling incidents targeted Ukrainian positions and populated areas.
Frontline Situation
The Pokrovsk sector experienced the highest enemy activity: 20 assaults resulted in 58 occupiers killed and 16 wounded. In this area, Ukrainian forces also destroyed 4 vehicles, 2 infantry shelters, and damaged 3 vehicles, 1 drone control post, 1 artillery piece, and 98 personnel shelters. A total of 170 unmanned aerial vehicles of various types were either destroyed or suppressed.
In the North Slobozhanske and Kursk sectors, 8 assaults were recorded, with 1 engagement still ongoing. The South Slobozhanske sector also saw 8 assaults and 1 ongoing clash. One assault was halted in the Kupiansk sector, while 7 attempts to advance were repelled in the Lyman sector. In the Sloviansk sector, 1 advance attempt was successfully pushed back.
The Kostiantynivka sector witnessed 16 assaults repelled, with 1 engagement still in progress. The Huliaipole sector experienced 19 attacks, while the Orikhiv sector saw 2 offensive actions. The Dnipro sector faced 3 assaults.

The frontline situation indicates ongoing intense combat, particularly in the Pokrovsk sector, where the enemy has intensified attacks. The high number of airstrikes and kamikaze drone deployments points to a shift in enemy tactics. Despite significant pressure, Ukrainian forces continue to successfully repel assaults and inflict losses, underscoring their resilience and readiness to defend the country's territorial integrity.
