Ukraine's General Staff Tallies Russian Losses After 222 Daily Combat Engagements

Front-line situation as of August 14

This is the latest battlefield report from Ukraine's military command. In its morning update for August 14, the General Staff said 222 combat clashes took place on August 13. The most intense Russian offensive activity was seen on the Sloviansk, Kostiantynivka, and Pokrovsk axes. Ukrainian forces also targeted 14 areas where enemy personnel were concentrated and struck 2 drone control posts.

According to the General Staff, Russian losses on August 13 included:

  • 1,470 military personnel
  • 1,676 unmanned aerial vehicles
  • 46 artillery systems

The enemy carried out 76 air raids, dropping 237 guided bombs, and deployed 10,027 kamikaze drones. Over the course of the day, there were 3,011 shelling incidents against populated areas and Ukrainian positions. Among the settlements hit by artillery were Korenok, Ulanove, Vyntorivka, Yastrubshchyna, and Seredyna-Buda in Sumy region. Air strikes targeted areas around Velyka Chernechchyna and Tovstodubove.

Assessment of combat operations

Front-line conditions remain tense. On the North-Slobozhanskyi and Kursk axes, Ukrainian troops repelled 4 assaults; the enemy also launched 3 air strikes using 4 guided bombs and carried out 68 shellings. On the South-Slobozhanskyi axis, 15 attacks were beaten back, with enemy advance attempts recorded near Starytsia and Lyman. On the Kupiansk axis, there was one attack toward Zahryzove, while on the Lyman axis, 10 assaults were repelled near Zarichne.

On the Sloviansk axis, the enemy launched 17 assault operations near Kryva Luka, Zakitne, and Riznykivka, as well as toward Rai-Oleksandrivka. In the Kramatorsk sector, occupiers attacked twice, toward Nykyforivka and Yurkivka. On the Kostiantynivka axis, 29 attacks were recorded around Kostiantynivka, Ilinivka, and Ivanopillia, with additional pushes toward Rusynyi Yar and Stepanivka. On the Pokrovsk axis, Ukrainian forces stopped 25 attacks, with enemy activity observed near Rodynske and Serhiivka.

Since the start of the full-scale invasion on February 24, 2022, through August 14, 2023, total Russian military casualties are estimated at roughly 1,464,440, including 1,470 added over the past day. Additional cumulative losses include:

  • 4,524 special-purpose vehicles (+2)
  • 133,853 trucks and fuel tankers (+448)
  • 2,229 ground robotic systems (+14)
  • 47,870 artillery systems (+46)

  • 1,565 air defense systems (+3)
  • 439 military aircraft
  • 354 helicopters
  • 459,649 tactical-level UAVs (+1,676)
  • 5,007 cruise missiles
  • 35 ships and boats
  • 2 submarines

No signs of Russian offensive groupings are emerging on the Volyn and Polissia axes. The overall situation remains fluid, with active combat taking place along multiple front-line sectors.

General Staff figures point to extremely intense fighting, especially on the Sloviansk, Kostiantynivka, and Pokrovsk axes, reflecting considerable Russian operational activity.
