Probe Into Conditions Facing Soldiers of the 14th Separate Mechanized Brigade
The Military Law Enforcement Service (VSP) is finalizing its investigation into the situation involving troops from the 14th Separate Mechanized Brigade. Ukraine’s General Staff has confirmed that the brigade’s previous command concealed the true state of affairs, resulting in the loss of several positions and logistical shortcomings in supporting personnel. Investigators have identified a specific failure in food deliveries to one of the brigade’s forward positions.
Compounding Challenges
The situation is made worse by systematic enemy air and missile strikes on crossings over the Oskil River, which have severely disrupted logistics near the city of Kupyansk. To keep troops supplied, the military has organized deliveries using watercraft and heavy unmanned aerial vehicles. Following public disclosure of the issue, forces managed to send several food parcels to the front line within a single day.
Based on certain materials, authorities are considering opening criminal proceedings. The VSP stated:
“If confirmed, the facts of unlawful actions will receive a proper legal assessment, and those responsible will be held accountable under Ukrainian law.”The General Staff added that 'an internal investigation into officials of the 14th Separate Mechanized Brigade is currently being completed, and appropriate management decisions will be made based on its findings.'
The Ministry of Defense emphasized that despite the difficult logistics, the brigade and corps commands are working to resolve supply issues and arrange troop rotations.
“Such situations should not occur, but the situation on various front-line sectors can be quite critical,”the ministry noted. The brigade and corps commands are maintaining contact with soldiers’ families to ensure proper support.
The Armed Forces of Ukraine remain an institution operating on principles of legality, accountability, and internal control, with zero tolerance for corruption, as highlighted by the VSP press service.

Supply disruptions can undermine unit readiness and, in turn, threaten front-line security.
