Ukraine’s General Staff Reports 203 Combat Engagements in a Single Day, with Pokrovsk Sector Seeing the Heaviest Fighting

As of 10:00 PM on May 18, 2025, the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine recorded 203 combat clashes. The most intense fighting continues in the Pokrovsk direction, marking the 1,545th day of the full-scale invasion.

Over the past 24 hours, Russian forces launched one missile strike using 22 missiles, along with 46 airstrikes that dropped 144 guided aerial bombs. Additionally, the enemy deployed 6,080 kamikaze drones and carried out 2,298 shelling attacks on populated areas and military positions.

In the Pokrovsk sector alone, Ukrainian forces eliminated 56 Russian soldiers and wounded 14 others. The following enemy equipment was also destroyed:

  • 1 multiple rocket launcher system;
  • 1 military vehicle;
  • 4 units of specialized enemy equipment;
  • 1 tank, 3 vehicles, 2 artillery pieces, and 1 drone control post were damaged.

Ukrainian troops also destroyed or suppressed 182 unmanned aerial vehicles of various types throughout the day.

Frontline Situation

In the Northern Slobozhanskyi and Kursk directions, the enemy carried out one airstrike using 4 guided bombs and conducted 63 shelling attacks, one of which involved a multiple rocket launcher. On the Southern Slobozhanskyi axis, Russian forces attacked Ukrainian positions 6 times, notably near Starytsia, Vilcha, Prylipky, Veterynarne, and toward Hrafske, with 3 assaults still ongoing.

In the Kupiansk sector, the enemy launched 3 attacks toward Kurylivka and Petropavlivka. The Lyman direction saw 11 assaults on Ukrainian troops, who repelled attacks near Stavky, Zarichne, Drobysheve, and toward Ozerne; 2 attacks remain active. Russian forces also mounted 3 assaults in the Sloviansk area, targeting Rai-Oleksandrivka and Kalenyky.

In the Kostiantynivka direction, occupiers attacked 16 times near Ivanopillia, Illinivka, Pleshchiivka, Vilne, Toretske, and toward Kostiantynivka and Kucheriv Yar. On the Pokrovsk front, the enemy conducted 33 assaults, including near Dorozhnie, Shevchenko, Rodynske, Novooleksandrivka, Hryshyne, Kotlyne, Udachne, Novoserhiivka, Molodetske, Filiia, Bilytske, and Pokrovsk itself.

In the Oleksandrivka direction, one assault occurred toward Vorone. The Huliaipole sector recorded 20 enemy attacks, with 3 still ongoing toward Zlahoda, Nove Zaporizhzhia, Charivne, Tsvitkove, Rivne, Zaliznychne, Rybne, and Staroukrainka.

As of May 18, the frontline remains under intense pressure, with numerous combat engagements and ongoing enemy offensives.

The current frontline situation underscores the continuation of active hostilities and the resilience of Ukrainian forces, who continue to repel enemy attacks. The rising number of combat clashes and the enemy’s use of advanced weaponry may signal preparations for larger-scale offensives. At the same time, Ukrainian troops are proving effective in countering drones and enemy equipment—a critical factor in modern warfare. This highlights the importance of continued support from international partners in strengthening Ukraine’s defense capabilities.
