Ukrainian skeletonist Geraskevych broke into the top 6 at the World Cup stage in Sigulda

Two Ukrainians, Vladyslav Geraskevych and Yaroslav Lavrenyuk, participated in the fourth stage of the World Cup in skeleton, held in Sigulda, Latvia. Both athletes qualified for the second run. In the first run, Geraskevych finished 14th, while Lavrenyuk placed 25th.


In the second run, Lavrenyuk remained in 25th place, while Geraskevych immediately climbed nine positions to finish the stage in fifth place, which is his best result of the season. The next stage of the World Cup will also take place in Sigulda on December 20.


Ukrainian athletes continue to impress with their achievements on the international sports arena. Geraskevych and Lavrenyuk showed excellent results in the fourth stage of the World Cup in skeleton, raising the bar for Ukrainian sports.

Ukraine took 10th place in the overall medal standings of the European Youth Olympic Festival, winning 5 gold, 8 silver, and 10 bronze medals. This is the second most successful performance of the Ukrainian team in the history of participation in the Festivals.


Judo was the most successful sport for Ukraine at the Festival, with six medals. Our athletes also won awards in swimming, athletics, taekwondo, shooting, artistic gymnastics, and table tennis.


The World Summer Universiade concluded in Germany. The Ukrainian team won 12 medals, including bronze in the 20-kilometer race walk.

Ukraine finished 14th in the overall medal standings of the Summer Universiade, winning 4 gold, 3 silver, and 5 bronze medals.



Ukrainian skeletonists Geraskevych and Lavrenyuk had a good performance in the fourth stage of the World Cup, climbing in the rankings of Ukrainian sports. Geraskevych finished the stage in fifth place, while Lavrenyuk held on to 25th place. This is yet another success for our country in international sporting events.
