Mykola Dukhnych is an officer who does not seek loud recognition or medals, but finds his strength in calm, confidence, and readiness to act in dangerous situations. He joined the State Emergency Service already in 2012 after graduating from Lviv State University of Life Safety.
“After graduation, I came to the Center. And since then I understood that I had chosen the right path. I remember my first foreign assignment: at that time I told myself that I wanted rescuers from other countries, seeing us, to say: ‘With these guys and girls, we can move mountains; we can rely on them.’ And you know, when Terje Skavdal from the INSARAG Secretariat said: ‘It would be my honor to work alongside you,’ I felt that we were on the right path.”
Mykola actively participates in international search and rescue operations. It was important for him for the MRC Ukraine team to undergo re-certification in the INSARAG system despite the challenging circumstances due to the war. In his efforts to coordinate assistance in emergencies, Mykola emphasizes the importance of coordination and cooperation among rescuers, considering it the foundation of rescue work.
His main dream is peace for children, safety, and a happy future for all. He dreams of a clear sky and drones flying only to capture happy moments.
Mykola Dukhnych is an officer of the State Emergency Service, who demonstrates through his actions his readiness to help in dangerous situations and devotion to the idea of serving without looking for personal gain.
