Mykola Yarmoliuk Passes Away

Ukrainian soldier Mykola Yarmoliuk died on March 26, 2024, from wounds sustained in combat. He was hospitalized on March 22, 2024, due to internal bleeding, but despite medical efforts, doctors were unable to save his life. His death is a stark reminder of the ongoing human cost of the war in Ukraine, where soldiers continue to suffer from injuries long after leaving the front lines.

His Life and Service

Born on February 28, 1986, in Malyi Mydsk, Kostopil region, Mykola Yarmoliuk first joined the Armed Forces of Ukraine in 2014, serving in the Anti-Terrorist Operation (ATO). He was demobilized in 2016 but was called back to service following Russia's full-scale invasion of Ukraine in 2022.

In March 2022, he served with the 110th Separate Mechanized Brigade, carrying out missions in the Luhansk and Donetsk regions. On May 19, 2022, he sustained a severe thigh wound in Avdiivka, which required extensive treatment at Mechnikov Hospital in Dnipro and a military hospital in Ternopil. Due to a deterioration in his health, he was subsequently discharged from service.

Mykola Yarmoliuk was laid to rest on March 28, 2024, in the local cemetery of his home village. His death is a profound loss for his family and community. Adding to the family's grief, the husband of Yarmoliuk's sister, Oleksandr Krupienia, had only recently returned from captivity.

The death of Mykola Yarmoliuk underscores the sacrifices borne by Ukrainian servicemen in a war that has now lasted for years.

Combat veterans like Yarmoliuk continue to defend Ukraine's territorial integrity, often facing grave risks to their lives. This tragedy reflects the deep sorrow experienced by the families of servicemen who have lost loved ones, highlighting the importance of supporting and remembering their contribution to the nation's defense.

The tragic loss of Mykola Yarmoliuk is part of a broader narrative of sacrifice among Ukrainian soldiers, much like the story of another fallen hero, Lyudmyla Balabukha, who lost her life in Kharkiv Oblast due to a guided bomb. These stories serve as poignant reminders of the ongoing challenges faced by servicemen and their families amid the conflict.
