Ukrainians who went abroad due to the war are actively continuing to search for jobs in European Union countries. Even those who have been working in the EU for several years are considering moving to another country or changing employers due to unsatisfactory working conditions and low wages, according to UNIAN.
According to Eurostat data for 2024, the highest hourly rates in Europe are recorded in Luxembourg (55.2 euros/hour), Denmark (50.1 euros/hour), and Belgium (48.2 euros/hour). Jobs in the business-economics sector are the best paid, where managers, marketers, and other staff can earn up to 34.2 euros per hour. However, the lowest wages are recorded in Eastern European countries such as Bulgaria, Romania, and Hungary.
Ukrainian refugees and labor migrants in Europe are seeking better working conditions, as wages in underdeveloped Eastern European countries leave much to be desired compared to wealthier Western European states. This trend may lead to an increase in the socio-economic level of Ukrainian emigrants, but it also raises competition in the labor market in countries where there is already a significant number of Ukrainian workers.
