The terrorist revealed the true situation at the front in Ukraine
Famous terrorist and militant, currently imprisoned in Russia, Igor Girkin (Strelkov) expressed his opinion on the activities of the Russian army in eastern Ukraine, stating that the military command uses soldiers as 'meat' to achieve its own goals. According to the Russian terrorist, many mobilized soldiers end up on the front line without proper support, objectives, and a lack of military morale.
Girkin emphasized that even convicted individuals trying to enlist in the army refuse to serve due to distrust in the authorities and deception by Russia's social defense structure. According to the militant, soldiers do not want to go to the front if their comrades do not go together, and they do not want to be part of the 'meat assaults' currently taking place.
The militant emphasized that military objectives are unclear, and conditions for servicemen at the front are terrible.
According to Girkin, without mass mobilization, the Russian army may face catastrophic losses in military personnel, which would be critical for the Kremlin government.
Constant cases of desertion in the Russian army
According to GUR, from November 2024 to July 2025, over 25 thousand servicemen from the Central Military District voluntarily abandoned their positions. Desertion takes various forms, ranging from leaving positions on the battlefield to disappearing from deployment sites or refusing to return after treatment.
Even with the capture of weapons and equipment, cases of desertion in the Russian army are traced back to insufficient training and support from the authorities. Over 30 incidents of this nature were recorded in 2024-2025.
Desertion rates in the Russian army indicate a worsening situation in the Ukrainian conflict and a lack of trust among servicemen towards the Russian military authorities. Conditions at the front are criticized due to horrific service conditions and uncertainty about the objectives of the military operation.
