Support for Responsible Tourism
The Head of the State Agency for Tourism Development (DART), Natalia Tabak, expressed support for responsible tourism during a broadcast on the 'Public Broadcasting' channel and emphasized the importance of adhering to the principles of sustainable development. She opposed the practice of off-roading in protected areas, pointing to the need for specialized routes and trails for such activities.
‘We advocate for tourism that combines active recreation and respect for the environment. We are strongly against the depletion of natural areas by vehicles not designed for such activities. Specialized routes and trails for off-roading must be created where such activities do not harm the environment’ — Natalia Tabak.
She also urged tourists to adhere to eco-friendly behavior during their travels: ‘A responsible traveler should leave the area better than it was before their visit’.
Tourist Indicators in the Western Regions of Ukraine
The western regions of Ukraine remain the most resilient tourist centers in the country. According to data for the first quarter of 2026, the leaders in the number of overnight stays are:
- Transcarpathia — nearly 300 thousand overnight stays
- Lviv Region — nearly 600 thousand overnight stays
- Ivano-Frankivsk Region — nearly 500 thousand overnight stays
