The danger of destabilization in Russia
If Russia loses the war on its territory, it could provoke destabilization that threatens not only the country itself but also its neighbors. Weakening of central authority may also lead to a loss of control over the nuclear arsenal. This was stated by the head of the Reserve Council of the Ground Forces of Ukraine, Ivan Timochko, during a broadcast on Ukrainian radio.
Timochko emphasized that many countries share a border with Russia, including countries in Europe, the US, and China. None of them want to see chaos at their borders, which could arise as a result of destabilization in the RF.
Each of them understands that in the event of Russia's defeat, destabilization within its borders, the creation of new enclaves based on territorial, national, or religious principles will definitely occur. There will be a split within the country itself, and likely, a number of enclaves will decide to make territorial claims against their neighbors.
Timochko added that Russia's possession of nuclear weapons creates additional risks in the event of destabilization in the country.
Territorial disputes and financial aspects
According to Timochko, the collapse of Russia may cause territorial conflicts and increase the risk of conflicts at the borders of countries. He noted that Russia has already stolen part of the lands from some countries, and when it is weakened, neighbors may attempt to reclaim their property.
Definitely, one of the neighboring countries among those 18 countries that share borders with Russia may raise territorial claims against the RF. Essentially, Russia has stolen some portion of lands from all countries, including China. And when Russia is weakened, someone will definitely want to reclaim them, along with interest.
The expert also emphasized that Russia was once a popular offshore zone, and the money that passed through its banks has settled in European institutions. Now some of these funds are under arrest abroad.
