Hourly Power Outage Schedules from January 8: How the Situation in the Energy System Will Change

Графік відключень електроенергії з 8 січня: яким чином зміниться енергетичний баланс країни.

Implementation of Hourly Power Outage Schedules

On January 8, 2026, hourly power outage schedules will be implemented in Ukraine. This decision has become necessary due to the consequences of Russian missile and drone attacks on energy facilities, which have significantly impacted the stability of the energy system. In particular, the power limitation schedules concern industrial consumers, who, in the conditions of this winter, which according to DTEK’s CEO Maksym Tymchenko will be the most challenging since the beginning of the full-scale invasion, are forced to adapt to new conditions.

Situation in the Energy System

The Ukrainian energy system is experiencing a lack of reserve power supplies, complicating the situation with electricity supply. In this regard, representatives of Ukrenergo note that the situation in the energy system may change, and urge consumers to monitor the timing and volume of outages at their addresses. It is also emphasized that when electricity becomes available as scheduled, consumers should use it sparingly to avoid additional loads on the energy system.

Thus, starting from January 8, 2026, Ukrainians should be prepared for regular hourly power outages to ensure the stability of the country's energy supply in a challenging situation.

The implementation of hourly power outage schedules is a response to the critical situation in Ukraine's energy system caused by external attacks. This decision highlights the importance of energy stability for the country in wartime and the necessity for consumers to adapt to new realities. Consumers should be aware that adhering to schedules and the economical use of electricity can significantly impact the overall situation in the energy sector, which will remain under pressure throughout the winter period.
