Ukraine Implements Nationwide Hourly Power Cuts for February 11, 2026
Hourly electricity outage schedules will be in effect across all regions of Ukraine, including the Kyiv region, on February 11, 2026. This nationwide measure is a response to the ongoing severe strain on the country's energy system. These controlled blackouts are a regular feature of life as Ukraine manages its wartime energy deficit.
On February 10, the Kharkiv regional commission for technogenic and environmental safety declared a regional-level state of emergency in the energy sector. The regional authorities are petitioning the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine to include the region in the government's "SvitloDim" (LightHome) project. This initiative aims to address the critical challenges facing the region's energy infrastructure.
In a separate incident, Russian forces shelled an energy facility belonging to the DTEK company in the Odesa region, causing significant damage. Repairs are expected to be lengthy, which will further impact the stability of the region's power supply. A meeting of the coordination headquarters for energy security was also held to discuss further steps to ensure the nation's energy resilience.
