How Grant Aid from Caritas-Kyiv Boosted a Speech Therapist’s Client Base in Boyarka by 30%

Фінансова підтримка від Caritas-Kyiv дозволила логопеду в Боярці залучити на 30% більше клієнтів, підвищуючи якість послуг.

Empowering Natalia Through Grant Support and New Opportunities

Thanks to funding from the Caritas-Kyiv charitable foundation under the GROW project, speech therapist Natalia, who relocated to Boyarka due to the ongoing conflict, significantly improved her working conditions. The grant enabled her to invest in professional equipment, which in turn allowed her to expand her practice and increase new client intake by 30% within just three months. This growth not only advanced her business but also expanded the reach of her support to more children in the local community.

After being forced to leave her hometown, Natalia established her speech therapy practice in Boyarka. The financial assistance she received was used to purchase specialized speech therapy tools, educational materials, as well as a laptop and printer to better organize her services. Her therapy sessions focus on:

  • Speech development
  • Motor skills
  • Attention
  • Sensory processing with neuropsychological elements

For instance, within three months, Natalia helped a four-year-old boy with speech difficulties improve his comprehension, communication, and ability to express his needs.

Roman Syrotych, Director of Caritas-Kyiv, emphasized, "It’s crucial for us that support through this project delivers tangible benefits not only to individuals but also to entire communities."

This grant not only helps professionals resume their careers but also strengthens economic independence and creates opportunities for others. Evhen Kudriashov, head of the GROW project, added, "Grant support transforms expertise and experience into a meaningful endeavor that benefits not just the individual but also families and the wider community."

Looking Ahead: Expanding Comprehensive Child Support

Natalia aims to develop a center offering integrated assistance to children by combining speech therapy with neuropsychological support, with a special focus on kids with unique educational needs. She shared, "My goal is for my work to be professionally successful and socially impactful, enabling me to help more children and support families in need." Her greatest motivation comes from witnessing children’s small victories, which represent major milestones for them and their families. "These can be a first meaningful word, a new sound, or the initial steps toward full communication," Natalia explained.

The grant from Caritas-Kyiv illustrates the critical role of social initiatives during times of crisis, benefiting not only individual specialists but entire communities. Supporting professionals like Natalia fosters new possibilities for children with special needs, positively influencing their learning and social integration. This example highlights the importance of investing in social programs to help communities build resilience amid ongoing challenges.

In addition to individual success stories like Natalia's, the broader community is also benefiting from various initiatives aimed at supporting families in challenging situations. For instance, Ukrainian cafes and restaurants are coming together to provide assistance to families with seriously ill children, showcasing how collective efforts can create a significant impact during tough times.
