Increase in morbidity from ARVI in Ukraine
From December 15 to 21, 2025, there is an increase in morbidity from acute respiratory viral infections (ARVI) in Ukraine, including flu and COVID-19. A total of 54,727 adults and 83,682 children fell ill. At the same time, the number of COVID-19 cases decreased, with 372 new cases recorded, a decrease of 19.4%.
Hospitalizations and epidemic situation
During this period, 3,971 patients were hospitalized, including 2,330 children. According to data, a low level of exceeding the epidemic threshold was observed in Ivano-Frankivsk, Zhytomyr, and Lviv regions. Since the beginning of the epidemic season, which lasts from September 29 to December 21, 2025, 1,472,673 people have been infected with ARVI, and a total of 18,666 COVID-19 cases have been registered.
For the prevention of ARVI, it is recommended to:
- wash hands regularly and use antiseptics,
- eat a balanced diet,
- ventilate premises,
- avoid mass gatherings,
- get vaccinated against COVID-19.
The main symptoms of the disease include aches in muscles and joints, sore throat, fever of 38℃ and above, cough, as well as headache.
The increase in morbidity from ARVI in Ukraine, especially among children, indicates the activation of respiratory viruses in the cold season. Although the number of COVID-19 cases is decreasing, it is important to continue adhering to safety measures to prevent further spread of the viruses. Vaccination and preventive measures remain key to reducing the risks of infection and severe disease outcomes.
