At the third Demine Ukraine Forum, which took place on December 5 in Kyiv, a new national digital platform GRIT was presented for planning, prioritizing, and monitoring humanitarian demining. Igor Bezkaraivnyi, Deputy Minister of Economy, Environment, and Agriculture of Ukraine, spoke about the platform's capabilities and its implementation into demining activities.
GRIT is a unique platform that creates a digital copy of each territory by integrating data from satellites, cadastre, surveys, registers, and analytical models. It also allows for the assessment of the real state of contaminated areas, determining priorities from a safety perspective, and provides convenient analytical tools for comparing areas, dynamics, and scenarios for the future development of territories after demining.
'The collected verified data allows for planning demining precisely in those areas where its results will be most tangible,' noted Igor Bezkaraivnyi.
GRIT is an important step towards improving the processes of humanitarian demining in Ukraine, which will allow for a more effective and safer resolution of this issue in contaminated zones. The implementation of digital technologies in this field will contribute to improving efficiency and reducing the timelines for conducting demining.
