The State Special Communications of Ukraine warns citizens about the activation of fraudulent schemes, where criminals send phishing messages on behalf of banks through messengers and social networks.

According to the agency, scammers use bait in the form of monetary reward that can allegedly be obtained for participating in a short survey. After this, potential victims are redirected to a fake website that closely imitates the real page of the financial institution.

On the counterfeit resource, users are asked to enter confidential data, including mobile phone number, confirmation code from an SMS message, and bank card PIN. Having access to this information, criminals use it to log into the victim's bank account and illegally withdraw funds.

Expert Recommendations

Representatives of the State Special Communications emphasize the importance of following cybersecurity rules. Experts advise always checking the address of the website before entering personal or payment data, not clicking on suspicious links, and trusting only official sources and pages of banking institutions.

This scam scheme is becoming more widespread in Ukraine, so specialists urge citizens to be especially cautious when receiving messages with offers of easy earnings or rewards on behalf of financial institutions.
