21-річний кенійський найманець загинув поблизу Борівого під час української спецоперації: подробиці атакування.

Kenyan Mercenaries Eliminated in Ukraine

Ukraine's Main Intelligence Directorate (HUR) has reported the elimination of a group of Kenyan mercenaries during a combat engagement near the settlement of Borova in the Kharkiv region. Among those identified among the dead is Nyambura Eric Mwangi, born in 2003, who arrived in Yaroslavl along with three other Kenyans on October 23-24, 2025. After signing a contract, Mwangi and his companions were sent to a training center, where they underwent preparation for a week and a half. He initially served as a radiotelephone operator but was later transferred to an assault unit.

Circumstances of Death

According to intelligence reports, Mwangi was killed by a Ukrainian mortar strike while attempting to cross a kill zone. 'Preliminary data indicates that Mwangi died as a result of a Ukrainian mortar strike during an attempt to traverse the kill zone,' the statement reads.

This combat incident is part of a broader pattern: as of August 2025, the deaths of at least 316 African mercenaries fighting alongside Russian occupation forces have been confirmed.

The situation highlights the global dimension of the conflict in Ukraine, with foreign mercenaries from various countries taking part in hostilities, signaling an expansion of the war's scale. The presence of Kenyan and other African nationals within the occupation forces underscores the international nature of this military conflict, which could have serious implications for regional security and interstate relations.

This incident is not isolated; it reflects a growing trend of foreign involvement in the Ukrainian conflict. Similar reports have emerged regarding casualties among mercenaries from Nepal, highlighting the recruitment of fighters from diverse backgrounds.
