Ukraine's Intelligence Agency Exposes 21 Russian Drone Manufacturers, Over Half Unsanctioned

Українська розвідка виявила 21 виробника дронів з Росії, більшість з яких не підпадає під санкції.

Information on Russian Enterprises in Unmanned Technology

Ukraine's Main Intelligence Directorate (GUR) has published details on 21 Russian companies involved in developing and manufacturing unmanned systems used by the Russian Federation in its war against Ukraine. This data was released on the War&Sanctions portal's section covering the aggressor's military-industrial complex. Shockingly, more than half of these firms are not subject to sanctions from any country within the international sanctions coalition. This revelation highlights a significant gap in the global effort to restrict Russia's military capabilities.

Some of this intelligence was gathered by participants in the international War&Sanctions hackathon, which was organized by Ukraine's GUR last year. The published list includes LLC Agency for Digital Development, the developer and manufacturer of the Svarog line of cargo drones. Also featured are enterprises from the Aero-khit group, which develop and produce the Veles FPV drones owned by Konstantyn Basiuk.

Russian Military-Industrial Complex Activity in Drone Technology

The data also contains information on KB Mikrob, which develops the Mikrob series of FPV drones, and AT Ploshchad, which creates autopilot and machine vision systems for them. These facts point to the continued, active development of unmanned technology within the Russian military-industrial complex, despite the lack of sanctions against most of the listed entities.

The published information underscores the challenges the international community faces in countering the military technologies employed by Russia.

Despite ongoing sanction efforts, many of these enterprises continue to operate and develop their capabilities, posing a potential threat to regional security. This situation indicates a pressing need for enhanced oversight and expanded sanctions to limit the aggressor's access to critical military technologies.
