The Main Directorate of Intelligence of the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine (HUR MOU) published a statement refuting the information about the creation of a profile of HUR leader Kyrylo Budanov in Russia. According to HUR, this was a product of Russian intelligence services aiming to discredit the Ukrainian intelligence leadership.
In the statement, HUR emphasized that the circulated information is false and created for the purpose of spreading a fake, and that there is no official confirmation of this.
The intelligence cited Budanov's account, which contained no evidence of Russian origin of the profile. It was also noted that the social network X launched a new feature to verify basic information about accounts and their country of origin.
Russian propagandists actively create Telegram channels and pages that imitate the official resources of HUR MOU in an attempt to mislead volunteers and discredit Ukrainian intelligence.
HUR leader Kyrylo Budanov emphasized that the landing of HUR troops in Pokrovsk was important for resolving the difficult situation in the city. This step allowed Ukrainian forces to get closer to the city, despite the optimistic reports from the Russian General Staff about the capture of the city.
“At that time, the Russians already considered the city taken. The Ukrainian operation allowed the main units to approach Pokrovsk,” said Budanov.
The Ukrainian HUR refuted the information about the creation of Budanov's profile in Russia, pointing to its inaccuracy and attempts to discredit the Ukrainian military agency. It was also emphasized that it is necessary to pay close attention to the information spread in the network and verify its credibility.
