The Main Directorate of Intelligence of the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine has added information about 20 oil tankers of Russian origin and 11 ships of the Iranian 'ghost army' to the database of the aggressor's 'shadow fleet'.

According to the agency, the War&Sanctions portal now contains information on 626 vessels of the shadow tanker fleet of Russia and Iran, with a total deadweight of nearly 67 million metric tons. New data has been published in the 'Shadow Fleet' section of the official resource.

The identified Russian tankers operate without proper Western insurance, facilitating maritime export flows of oil and petroleum products. The vessels carry out shipments from the ports of the Baltic and Black Seas, the Arctic and Pacific regions to India, the People's Republic of China, and other countries, using deceptive and high-risk shipping practices.

  • The aggressor continues to expand the network of the 'shadow fleet', attracting obsolete tankers registered under 'phantom' owners and managers in jurisdictions loyal to Moscow.

  • Some identified tankers are linked to Russian companies, in particular those that have been sanctioned.

Ukraine continues to study the activities of the aggressor's 'shadow fleet', incorporating new data on vessels from Russia and Iran. This information helps to better understand the maneuvers and practices used by these countries in maritime trade and oil export.
