Humanitarian Mission in Oleshky

Last night, members of the 11th Brigade of the National Guard of Ukraine named after Mykhailo Hrushevskyi, together with the 34th Kherson Regiment, completed their second drone delivery of humanitarian supplies to the city of Oleshky. The shipment weighed close to 4 tons and included food, medical supplies, and kits for children. This operation also involved the 30th Marine Corps, the 34th Separate Marine Brigade "Borysfen," and the 79th Border Guard Detachment, successfully delivering nearly 400 care packages.

Ukraine’s Minister of Internal Affairs, Ivan Vyhivskyi, shared the outcome of this mission, saying:

“My gratitude goes out to everyone directly involved—those who transported, secured, provided engineering support, and managed logistics. Special recognition goes to the 'Perun' UAV crew who not only delivered aid but also rescued six animals from the occupied territory.” – Ivan Vyhivskyi

Oleshky remains under occupation, with its residents cut off from food, water, and medical care. Vyhivskyi emphasized that “while Russian forces hold the people of occupied Oleshky effectively hostage—deprived of basic necessities—our units continue to do everything possible to save Ukrainians from starvation.” All nearly 400 packages were delivered without exception.

The Critical Role of Humanitarian Aid

This operation highlights the ongoing commitment of Ukrainian forces to support civilians enduring the hardships caused by occupation. Employing drones for aid delivery represents an innovative strategy that minimizes risks to both military personnel and civilians.

As residents of Oleshky face severe shortages of essential resources, such efforts are vital to meet their immediate needs and sustain morale. Given the prolonged conflict and its impact on local communities, continued humanitarian assistance in the area remains crucial.

As humanitarian efforts intensify in Oleshky, the situation remains critical, prompting Ukraine to initiate discussions at the OSCE level. Addressing the dire conditions faced by residents under occupation is essential for garnering international support.
