Kharkiv Hit by 'Shahed' Drones: Two Injured and Residential Fires Reported

Харків постраждав від атак БПЛА: двоє поранених та кілька пожеж у житлових районах.

Kharkiv Drone Strike on January 24

In the early hours of January 24, the city of Kharkiv came under attack from Russian 'Shahed' strike drones. The assault targeted the Industrial and Nemyshlyanskyi districts, resulting in damaged residential buildings, fires, and civilian casualties. These Iranian-made drones have become a frequent threat in the ongoing war, often targeting urban areas under cover of darkness.

The attack ignited a fire in an apartment within a multi-story building and set the roof of another structure ablaze. A private home was also damaged, windows were blown out of a high-rise, and residents were trapped inside one five-story building. At the time of reporting, two individuals are confirmed injured:

  • A 74-year-old woman suffering from acute stress reaction;
  • A 25-year-old pregnant woman.

Both are receiving medical care. An additional person has also sought medical assistance.

Fires and Aftermath of the Assault

In the Nemyshlyanskyi district, a private house caught fire. Emergency response teams from the State Emergency Service (SES) and paramedics are working at the scene. Information regarding the full extent of the damage and the number of victims is still being clarified.

This strike on Kharkiv is part of a wider escalation in the ongoing conflict in Ukraine, where civilian infrastructure is frequently targeted. Such incidents underscore the severe threat to the population and the critical importance of rapid emergency service response.

Local authorities and medical services are focused on ensuring safety and providing aid to the victims, which is critically important in these situations.
