Bread Prices in Ukraine Could Hit 60 Hryvnias by 2026

Прогнозують, що вартість хліба в Україні може перевищити 60 гривень до 2026 року.

Anticipated Price Hikes for Bakery Goods in Ukraine

Bakery products in Ukraine are forecast to become more expensive in 2026, driven by the ongoing energy crisis and logistical challenges. Even with a slowdown in the overall inflation rate, the price of a standard loaf of bread could reach 60 hryvnias by December 2026. This staple food is a critical part of the national diet, making price increases a significant concern for household budgets.

Current Situation and Future Projections

Food prices rose by 12% in 2025. Expert forecasts for 2026 predict inflation at around 7%. The cost of bread has already increased by over 20% year-on-year, with the average price in Ukrainian supermarkets in mid-January 2026 ranging from 32.90 to 49.87 hryvnias. In November 2025, the consumer price index for bread was 104.11%, while in January 2026 it stood at 100.08%.

Bread prices have risen (year-on-year) by more than 20%. In 2026, we will see an additional increase of at least 10%, factoring in extra costs for electricity due to the destruction of our energy system by the occupiers.
