In the detention center in Olenivka, it became very difficult for Ukrainian soldiers. The buildings were overcrowded and quality water was a luxury. This was stated by the serviceman of the 'Azov' brigade Vladislav Andrianov in an interview for 'Glavkom'.
'The water we had was only technical, brought from some body of water by fire trucks. Without proper nutrition, people simply felt very bad from exhaustion after three months of fighting in Mariupol. We had regular checks, during which we had to stand and wait while we were counted. Every day someone fainted from a lack of nutrients in the food we were provided,' he explained.
Tragedy in Olenivka
The serviceman in Olenivka described the terrorist attack with one phrase: 'We were just cynically blown up in our sleep.'
Andrianov said that about 200 people were gathered in one room. 'They didn’t explain anything - they simply came up with a list, lined us up, and transferred us to another building. A day or two later, they stated that there shouldn’t be more than one person in the toilet at night, to maximize the preservation of all people inside,' he added.
'There was an explosion, and there was no way out. We heard the explosion in the morning but thought it was just exits, so we went to sleep again. I woke up realizing that something had happened because everything exploded, it lit up. I saw that I only had minor injuries from shrapnel on my arms, legs, and ribs. And immediately began asking the injured nearby how they felt. Two of them were seriously injured, so we quickly exited the room,' shared the 'Azov' fighter.
Ukrainian servicemen faced great difficulties in the colony in Olenivka due to overcrowding, lack of water, and insufficient nutrition. The situation was exacerbated by the tragedy when a terrorist attack occurred in the room where the detainees were located, injuring several people.
