Ukrainian poetess of the sixties, Lina Kostenko, believes that Ukrainians are real heroes who stand resolutely in the war against such a great power as Russia. She shared these thoughts during an interview on 'Radio Hartia'.

«This is a heroic people. This is how a nation of heroes arises. Somewhere I wrote: «They grew, grew, and grew up boys». Now they are met in villages on their knees... So many have died. I believe that there is no more dignified people now than Ukrainians,» - Lina Kostenko said.

The poetess emphasized that Russia is a terrible country, quoting her own lines about this power.

«Russia is a great power. It would annihilate everyone to the ground. It has kneaded fascist dough. It does not even know what it has baked,» - she wrote.

Lina Kostenko noted that Russians, seeing Ukrainian heroes, use the derogatory term 'khohlos', showing disrespect towards Ukrainians. Meanwhile, according to her, there is a nation in Ukraine, not just a separate tribal subdivision.

As a memory, Lina Kostenko celebrated her 95th birthday on March 19 and received a gift from Budanov. The poetess also shared her impressions of her well-being at this age.

In her interview, Lina Kostenko noted that Ukrainians are a nation of heroes capable of resisting a great power, while Russia is a country that does not know what it is producing. She also noted the contemptuous attitude of Russians towards Ukrainians, whom they call 'khohlos', but Lina Kostenko emphasized that Ukrainians are a nation with a centuries-old history and heroic endurance.
