Igor Klymenko Takes Leadership of Ukraine’s National Cybersecurity Coordination Center
On September 14, President Volodymyr Zelensky officially appointed Igor Klymenko as the head of the National Cybersecurity Coordination Center by presidential decree. Klymenko assumes this role alongside his position as Secretary of the National Security and Defense Council. The Center operates as a key executive body within the NSDC, tasked with strengthening the resilience of Ukraine’s cyber environment, ensuring strategic interagency cooperation, and implementing the country’s national cyber defense policies.
Prior to this appointment, Rustem Umerov led the Center. Igor Klymenko, who has served as Minister of Internal Affairs since February 2023 following the tragic death of Denys Monastyrsky in a car accident, now steps into this critical cybersecurity role. Before becoming Minister, Klymenko was the Chief of the National Police of Ukraine from September 2019, having previously held the position of Deputy Head of the National Police.
The presidential decree takes effect immediately upon publication, underscoring the strategic importance Kyiv places on cybersecurity amid ongoing national security challenges.
