Producer and TV host Ihor Kondratiuk explained why they decided to bring back the show «Karaoke on Maidan» during the war and why the filming was moved from Khreshchatyk to Kontraktova Square. According to him, the project was resumed not only for entertainment but also due to its charitable component. He talked about it in an interview with the YouTube channel «Slava Dyoimin».

Kondratiuk named three reasons for the return of Karaoke on Maidan

Ihor Kondratiuk stated that the second return of the show was made possible for several reasons. Firstly, the TV channel TET showed interest in the format.

Additionally, a regular sponsor who collaborated with the show many years ago agreed to continue supporting the project.

The third and main reason the TV host mentioned was charity.

«We found a charitable component, which is now mandatory. For the first filming, we raised about 245 thousand hryvnias. For Karaoke on Maidan, this was a very large amount», — Kondratiuk said.

He added that he was surprised by the activity of people who donated money into hats and bought places to participate in the show during the filming.

Why the show was moved from Khreshchatyk to Kontraktova Square

Separately, Ihor Kondratiuk explained the change of location for the filming of the program. Previously, the show was traditionally recorded near the Passage on Khreshchatyk.

The producer noted that next to this location, there is now a public memorial for fallen Ukrainian heroes.

«We definitely should not sing near the memorial. There are farewells for heroes at Maidan, and I cannot imagine how we could hold an entertainment show there», — Kondratiuk explained.

He added that Kontraktova Square seemed to the team a more appropriate and atmospheric location for the updated format.

Kondratiuk responded to criticism for holding an entertainment show during the war

The TV host acknowledged that some people critically perceive the return of an entertainment format during the war and shelling.

However, Kondratiuk believes that life must continue, and young people need safe spaces for emotional relaxation and communication.

He also emphasized that the show plans to continue raising funds for charitable needs and support for Ukrainians.

Let us remind you, the Ukrainian TV host and producer Ihor Kondratiuk openly talked about his pension and financial sources for the first time.
