Ilnara Dudash: A Dedicated Advocate for Ukrainians in the Czech Republic

Since moving to the Czech Republic in 2006, Ukrainian-born Ilnara Dudash has played a pivotal role in supporting the Ukrainian diaspora through her leadership of the public organization 'Ukrainian Initiative of South Moravia.' She also serves as a representative of the Ukrainian national minority on the Czech Government Council for National Minorities. Her active involvement began in 2014 amid the Euromaidan protests and the onset of Russian aggression in Ukraine.

Residing in Brno, Ilnara has organized solidarity rallies and humanitarian aid collections to assist those affected by the conflict. A major achievement under her guidance includes the establishment of a Saturday school for Ukrainian children alongside the Ukrainian Center in Brno. During the first year of the full-scale invasion, the local Ukrainian community raised over 2 million hryvnias to provide humanitarian support to civilians in frontline and border regions of Ukraine. Currently, efforts continue to fund rehabilitation programs for Ukrainian soldiers, with nearly 640,000 hryvnias already collected.

Celebrating Ukrainian Culture through an Annual Festival

Each year, Ilnara and her team organize the 'Brno buď Láska' Ukrainian cultural festival. This year’s event spanned six days, featuring around 20 activities and attracting an audience of approximately 10,000 people. The festival’s program showcased a diverse range of offerings, including:

  • cultural exhibitions
  • educational initiatives
  • live musical performances
  • community engagement activities

These events have significantly contributed to raising awareness and appreciation of Ukrainian culture within the Czech Republic. Through the work of Ilnara Dudash and the 'Ukrainian Initiative of South Moravia,' the preservation of Ukrainian identity and community solidarity abroad has been strongly reinforced.

Ilnara Dudash’s activism exemplifies the power of civic engagement in supporting Ukrainians abroad, especially in times marked by urgent humanitarian needs and efforts toward cultural integration.

Thanks to the dedication of leaders like Ilnara, the Ukrainian community in the Czech Republic continues to maintain its traditions and cultural heritage while receiving vital support during a challenging period for their homeland.
