U.S. President Donald Trump has decided to raise tariffs on India due to the country's purchase of Russian oil and its resale, ignoring the victims of Russian aggression in Ukraine. In his statement, Trump declared that he will not tolerate such passivity towards the Russian 'war machine' and plans to increase the tariffs that India pays to the U.S.

The full translation of Donald Trump's statement:

'India is not just buying vast amounts of Russian oil; it is then selling a significant portion of the purchased oil on the open market for large profits. They do not care how many people in Ukraine are dying from the Russian war machine. Because of this, I will significantly raise the tariffs that India pays to the U.S. Thank you for your attention to this matter!!!'

Further Consequences for India

According to Bloomberg, India's refusal to buy Russian oil could negatively impact its economy. Additionally, NYT reports that in the wake of sanctions from Trump, there is a question of whether India is willing to give up Russian oil altogether.

As a result, Trump's decision could be justified as a move against Russia's military actions, but at the same time, it may have a serious impact on the Indian people's economy.
