Club Parts Ways with Key Squad Members

Inter Milan has announced the departure of four first-team players: goalkeeper Yann Sommer, defenders Francesco Acerbi, Stefan de Vrij, and Matteo Darmian. Their contracts, which ran until June 30, have not been renewed. In the 2025/26 season, Sommer made 43 appearances across all competitions, Acerbi featured in 25 matches, de Vrij played 17, and Darmian took the field nine times.

2025/26 Season Highlights

Inter secured a domestic double during the 2025/26 campaign, winning both the Scudetto and the Coppa Italia. However, their Champions League run ended in the playoff stage. The club is now exploring a potential swap deal with Roma, which could involve defender Gianluca Mancini and Inter midfielder Davide Frattesi.

Head coach Cristian Chivu, who took over the Nerazzurri, delivered impressive results, becoming only the fifth manager in club history to win the Scudetto in his debut season. He is also the first non-Italian to claim the Serie A title since 2010.

The expiration of these four contracts signals a likely squad overhaul as Inter looks to build on a successful season. Adding new talent could help the club compete more effectively in both domestic and European competitions. The reported interest in a swap with Roma highlights the club's strategic approach to assembling a competitive roster for the seasons ahead.

As Inter Milan looks to refresh its squad following the departure of key players, the club's interest in acquiring Gianluca Mancini from Roma could be a pivotal move. This potential swap, which involves midfielder Davide Frattesi, reflects the club's strategy to enhance its roster and maintain competitiveness in upcoming seasons.
