How Ireland Is Stepping Up for Ukraine
Ireland has announced a fresh support package for Ukraine worth €125 million. The funds will be used to purchase and deliver non-lethal military equipment, as well as to help restore and protect critical infrastructure. Specifically, €100 million is allocated for military-related needs, while €25 million is set aside to bolster Ukraine’s energy sector ahead of the heating season. This comes as Ukraine faces ongoing challenges from Russia's full-scale invasion, making international assistance crucial for both defense and civilian resilience.

EU Sanctions Target Russia's Shadow Fleet
Separately, the European Union has adopted its 21st sanctions package against Russia, marking the first time it has specifically targeted the so-called shadow fleet. Under these new measures, the EU has added 32 Russian banks to the sanctions list and expanded restrictions on transactions involving Russian financial institutions. Crypto companies and platforms trading Russian oil are also now subject to the new limitations.
